Metav 2018
Metal processing on the 3D printer
At the METAV in Düsseldorf, visitors to encee CAD/CAM-Systeme GmbH in Hall 15 on Stand F37 will have the opportunity to experience metalworking in a completely new form: 3D printing of metal rods will be demonstrated there on a Studio System from the American start-up Desktop Metal. Prototypes or spare parts can be produced directly from the digital 3D model. The 3D CAD/CAM system ZW3D and other 3D printers from Stratasys will also be demonstrated.
As a specialist in 3D printing, encee is presenting a new type of technology in a three-stage process that works with alloyed and high-alloy steel grades as well as stainless steel, copper or nickel-cobalt alloys: Desktop Metal's 3D printer extrudes metal rods set in wax layer by layer to form a component. This "green part" is then freed from the wax components in a cleaning station.
A sintering furnace then heats the components until the metal melts into a completely dense part with no residual stress in the structure. This allows components with maximum dimensions of 255x170x170 millimetres to be produced directly in design studios or offices. Simple manual removal of support geometries, fast material changes and processes controlled by web-based software minimize the impact on employees and the environment. The Studio System integrates all workflows without the need for external equipment. Each phase of the process is supported by intelligent software and is fully automated. Users can easily and user-friendly produce a finished metal component from a 3D CAD model. With these advantages over laser sintering, the new technology will quickly establish itself.
As a specialist in 3D printing, encee is presenting a comprehensive range of solutions that also covers the entire process chain from design to finished component. With the 2D CAD system ZWCAD, the system house offers a cost-effective alternative to leading 2D systems. ZW3D provides users with a powerful 3D CAD/CAM system whose user community is constantly growing. With the Polyjet and Makerbot 3D printers from leading manufacturer Stratasys, encee presents innovative alternatives for the new manufacturing processes of rapid prototyping.
