Wibu-Systems receives foreign trade award

Wibu-Systems, together with the Blanco Group and Wickert Maschinenbau, received the 2019 Global Foreign Trade Award at an award ceremony on October 16.

Every two years, the Karlsruhe Technology Region, together with the Foreign Trade Committee of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce, honors internationally successful companies from the region with the Global. This year, the focus of the award was on particularly successful business models for foreign markets. Important selection criteria were Location in the Karlsruhe technology region, systematic approach, innovation, company key figures, success, interculturality and adaptation to foreign markets.

Wibu-Systems supplies the international markets with protection, licensing and security solutions so that software manufacturers and manufacturers of intelligent devices can protect their software and thus their know-how against product piracy, reverse engineering, copying and manipulation. As a player in a niche market, internationalization is important to the company. Just four years after the company was founded, Wibu-Systems exhibited for the first time at the Comdex trade fair in the USA. Over the years, the company has built up a network of distributors in many countries and is represented by subsidiaries in the USA, China and Japan as well as sales offices in Europe. Wibu-Systems has a direct export share of around 55 percent.

CEO and founder Oliver Winzenried accepted the award and said: "I was delighted to accept the Global 2019 for Wibu-Systems. Free trade is a win-win situation for everyone: better and cheaper products, more choice, more jobs, more freedom and more peace through cooperation. Internationally open standards are important for us and for customers who integrate our solutions into their products and thus offer them worldwide. The diversity of international requirements and talents improves our competitiveness; diversification reduces our dependence on individual markets."
