TIA Portal: octoplant secures faster
In its latest version, the octoplant device management and backup solution from AUVESY-MDT creates backups of configurations, programming and version statuses from the Siemens TIA Portal faster than ever before.
The TIA Portal ("Totally Integrated Automation") from Siemens is the de facto standard for programming and controlling automated industrial systems in many sectors. Nevertheless, companies that rely on this and similar solutions are facing new challenges: The complexity on store floors is constantly increasing, and new legal framework conditions such as NIS2 are tightening compliance requirements.
The software provider AUVESY-MDT wants to support its customers in this situation. To this end, it has greatly expanded compatibility with the Siemens TIA Portal in the current version of its asset management and backup solution octoplant. Close cooperation and partnership with Siemens has led to a significant increase in the performance of backups and version comparisons. On average, such jobs now run eight times faster - this increase in efficiency not only spares nerves and time budgets, but can also save money.
Enormous increase in performance: more backup jobs in less time
In its latest release, octoplant supports the TIA Portal from V17 up to the current version 19. The increased efficiency that has been realized now allows more backup jobs from the TIA Portal to be carried out in even less time. The fast and automated backups also help to meet legal compliance requirements - especially as version creation (including Compare) has also been significantly accelerated. In addition, a new asset management function supports the creation of detailed inventory lists of automation devices within the TIA Portal. This allows errors or inconsistencies in the configuration and programming of automation systems to be identified quickly. If necessary, store floor managers can quickly restore a previous version that is known to be error-free. The documentation of all changes and actual states enables rapid traceability if required. Expensive downtimes can thus be prevented or at least significantly reduced.
The octoplant asset/device management and backup solution from AUVESY-MDT has earned an excellent reputation in the automation world - and the provider is further expanding this position with the new version. Greater efficiency and consistent documentation and monitoring of projects and project statuses provide manufacturing companies with security and save them high costs due to downtime.
