Andreas Mühlbauer,

Contemplative election campaign

The year is drawing to a close; many of us have spent the last few weeks making and maintaining contacts at the last trade fairs of the year. I personally enjoyed this, but now it's time to relax a little. We have all earned it.

This time of year is also usually a time of calm in politics. But that doesn't seem to be the case this year. The federal election campaign is looming! That's all we need right now. A constant stream of finger-pointing, mutual exposing, pithy testosterone phrases for months - that's what's supposed to convince us. The argument about what's right doesn't seem overly convincing to me, rarely constructive and forward-looking.

I would like to vote for the party that annoys me the least with polemics and has real ideas. However, this is an extremely difficult undertaking. Especially as polemics are popular, far-sightedness less so. I don't feel taken very seriously when someone presumably knowingly talks nonsense and at the same time expects me to trust him or her to lead the country responsibly into the present and from there into the future.

Absurd stylistic flourishes come to light here. You have to behave submissively towards aggressors, some people rant; human dignity only applies to certain people, say those who are completely off the mark, and - this is really funny - the next ones babble on about nuclear fusion. Just something they picked up and blurted out without reflection. I'm prepared to go down difficult paths. But please do so with reason, a plan and a real perspective.

I find it particularly unpleasant that it has suddenly become so important to emphasize that they only want the best for the country. What kind of country is it where I, as a voter, am thought to be so stupid and at the same time a billion-euro education package for 2025 is not on the cards?

Enough about that. However - while we're on the subject of voting - the most important vote of the coming year is about to begin: the INDUSTRIAL Production products of the year are up for grabs and you can take an active part. Starting on page 9, you will find all the relevant information and all the nominated products - without any polemics, of course.

With this in mind, enjoy the holidays and the turn of the year, seek and find relaxation and the strength to listen away from time to time when things get angry and unobjective.
