Andreas Mühlbauer,

Really now?

A survey conducted by Statista on September 6 shows that 45% of Germans consider "migration, asylum and foreigners" to be the most important social problem.

So only a good half of people consider other problems to be more important. Really now? In 2nd place with only 15% is the issue of "rights, AfD". This is followed by the "economic situation" (14%) and "energy, supply, climate" (13%). So let's focus on migration and everything will be fine?

The economy, climate and infrastructure are less important, according to the majority of citizens. And with them the politicians - not least parts of the media. At least that's how they behave. Because perhaps it is the other way around, perhaps many voters are following the polemical positioning attempts. Of course, migration - and, incidentally, finally the integration of non-German and German citizens, which is largely left to its own devices - is an important issue that urgently requires transparent and manageable solutions. But do people really believe that roads, public transport, care shortages, teacher shortages and kindergarten places will all improve?

Honest politicians and honest citizens should consider whether it would not help society, the economy and the country to focus electoral political attention on expanding infrastructure, brushing through investment-inhibiting bureaucracy and real issues for the future. Surely it must be possible to devote serious attention to more than one issue at a time, even in the minds of the people. At the end of the day, we need to bring about consistent reforms in many areas. No one can tolerate the constant fear of the voter or the unpleasant pandering to the voter - if necessary by denying their own values. Only plausible perspectives will convince people.
