Labeling of oval products
Orbiter module labels precisely
For precise labeling of oval or conical products, the labeling provider Bluhm Systeme has developed the new Geset 314 labeling system with orbiter.
Oval or conical packaging is traditionally held in place by a base and top band during the labeling process. The labeling system applies front and back labels to the products with very high labeling accuracy. In order to achieve even more precise labeling, the Geset 314 was equipped with an orbiter module in addition to the base and head conveyor. The grippers of this orbiter correspond exactly to the negative shape of the individual products. Immediately before labeling, the module grips and encloses the approaching pack, which is precisely aligned by the individual format.
To simplify product changeovers and reduce set-up times, specific labeling parameters can be saved in advance in the Geset 314's PLC. The respective parameters such as position, degree of inclination and distance between the label dispensers can be called up at the touch of a button and the system adjusts itself fully automatically to the new labeling situation with the help of numerous small actuators. A digital display provides additional safety: the PLC only gives the "green light" for the labeling process if all labeling parameters have been set correctly. A presence check was installed in the labeling system as an additional safety level. After labeling, this control unit checks the presence and position of the labels. Incorrectly labeled packaging is ejected immediately. The Geset 314 with orbiter contains two Alpha HSM label dispensers, which are used to label the products on the front and back. Thanks to a separate pre-reel, label rolls with a maximum diameter of 500 millimetres can be processed. Depending on the product size, the serial labeling system works at cycle rates of up to 120 products per minute.
The Geset series and special labeling division at Bluhm Systeme designs and manufactures tailor-made solutions that can be used to label square, round and oval products on the front and back, or cylindrical and conical products completely or partially all around. The dispensing technology is used for pre-printed labels. If variable data is to be written onto the labels before the actual labeling process, other technologies - inkjet printing, laser or thermal transfer printing - can be combined with the systems. The numerous functional modules are standardized and can be combined and expanded in all variants.
