Motek 2019

Mara Hofacker,

New material for splined shafts

Fast delivery from a flexible and reliable partner is the prerequisite for future-oriented drive systems in the context of a networked industry. At the Motek trade fair in Stuttgart, Mädler will be presenting its comprehensive range of products for drive technology solutions with maximum availability: roller chain, timing belt and V-belt drives, gears, connecting shafts, bearings, couplings and spindles through to pneumatics. The standard range also includes fastening parts and operating parts.

Mädler, a wholesaler and manufacturer of drive and mechanical engineering elements, is expanding its range of spline shaft connections with new spline shafts made from 42CrMo4 heat-treated steel. The new material ensures that either the dimensions of the splined shafts can be reduced or their load-bearing capacity increased. This makes the high-strength splined shafts suitable for transmitting large and varying torques, for example in indexing shaft gears for machine tools. At the same time, they make an important contribution to greater energy efficiency in machine and special machine construction.

In addition to splined shafts made from C45 and 1.4301 stainless steel, the company now also offers splined shafts made from 42CrMo4 in its product range. Due to its special material properties, the heat-treated steel allows a higher yield strength, flexural fatigue strength and surface pressure, which means that the load on the splined shaft can be increased or its dimensions reduced in the design. Thanks to lower mass forces, energy savings as well as higher acceleration and faster speed changes are possible. The splined shafts made of 42CrMo4 are also suitable for high torsional forces with axial displacement and therefore offer numerous possibilities in special machine construction.

Availability up to 6,000 mm length

Mädler splined shafts made of 42CrMo4 are available as standard in lengths of 1,000 mm, 1,500 mm, 2,000 mm, 3,000 mm and 6,000 mm. A permanent, extensive stock enables immediate delivery. Mädler also offers special lengths up to 6,000 mm at the customer's request thanks to its in-house production - made to measure according to drawings or samples. If required, the specialists for drive and mechanical engineering solutions can also machine the ends and carry out subsequent straightening.

With new splined shafts made of 42CrMo4 heat-treated steel, Mädler is expanding its range of splined shafts in lengths of up to 6,000 mm that are available for immediate delivery. Their maximum straightness is 0.8 mm/m and the maximum torsion is 0.5 mm/m. A straightness of 0.1 mm/m is possible on request. High stock levels ensure immediate availability, even for customized lengths. The range is supplemented by suitable accessories such as flanges or clamping rings.
