Built-in pallet damping

Ceiling-mounted suspended test conveyors are often used in body-in-white automation as buffers or storage units in which the robot hooks the components onto the pallets using the "meat hook principle".

As the components are only fixed at two points, they can vibrate freely. This is critical, for example, when processing complete bottoms and side walls, which can swing up when moving up in the buffer section. The fact that pallets run on top of each other without damping and the energy consumption caused by the friction generated are clear disadvantages of the traditional method. The user can try to get to grips with the vibration problem in larger parts storage systems with various measures, such as calming clamps, side-mounted damping elements or even brushes.

The patented pallet of the AFS system from Tünkers offers a new solution. The system has an integrated clutch in which the individual pallets are not only "decoupled" from the chain during friction, but are also damped by the pallets running on top of each other during decoupling. The so-called energy-saving belt is impressive from an energy point of view thanks to reduced stopping points and lower motor power. In addition, the pallet damping ensures that the pallets move up gently, making the system particularly suitable for long accumulation distances on ceiling-mounted conveyor lines. pb
