New shuttle generation with real-time monitoring
At Motek, Montratec will be presenting innovations from the Montrac rail and shuttle transport system to increase efficiency: real-time monitoring and control technology as well as the autonomous sensor technology of the new Shuttle MSH5 generation.
"With the use of intelligent digitalization technology from Montrac, production and logistics processes can be networked and our customers can produce even more efficiently, flexibly, safely and cost-effectively. We call this Productivity Ensurance," says Sven Worm, CEO of Montratec. "We use the real-time availability of all system data to permanently monitor, proactively control and sustainably optimize the current status of Montrac down to all individual components."
The company intends to set up a complete loop of the rail system, including various transport shuttles, at the trade fair. "In live presentations, we will show the implementation of digital automation, predictive maintenance using the example of a Montrac switch and the features of the new MSH5 generation shuttle," explains Worm.
Thanks to Montrack's modular and space-saving design, individual intralogistics solutions can also be supplied for customers with difficult spatial conditions and complex production processes. The modular transport system consists of a branched aluminum monorail system and various autonomously controlled transport shuttle types, which communicate independently with each other as well as with the route. Thanks to the decentralized control of the intelligent Material Flow Controller (MFC), the status and movement of each shuttle is known. "The high-tech control system ensures that the shuttles are always in the right place at the right time and find their individual transport destination automatically. Automation allows us to increase production throughput and boost efficiency," confirms Worm.

Bearbeiten beim Transport
Von Montratec kommt das modular aufgebaute Transportsystem Montrac. Es besteht aus einem Monorail mit selbstfahrenden Shuttles, die standardbasiert bis zu 50 Kilogramm Last tragen können.
By means of real-time visualization of the MFC data of all system components on mobile devices, the customer has access to all system information and can track or manually control each shuttle on the monorail at any time. In addition, predictive maintenance can already be carried out for the Montrac switches using the recorded system data. In the event of deviations from the expected standard values, these not only send specific error messages to the control system, but also send an optical signal.
Each shuttle can be removed from the running system or replaced in a single step without affecting the production process. Thanks to the intelligent control system, even a replaced shuttle automatically knows its original transport destination.
Thanks to the modular design of the decentralized control unit and its individual customer-specific configuration, not only all decision points on the monorail but also external process systems can be efficiently integrated into a comprehensive control model. The MFC can communicate with all system components as well as with the higher-level PLC control system via various standardized automation interfaces and enables an ERP system connection.
The 5-beam sensor module of the new Shuttle MSH5 generation independently monitors both the curves (Curve Control) and reverse movements (Direction Control) of the shuttles. "Thanks to the optimized sensor module, a wider detection area is now visible and wider workpiece carriers can also be monitored," explains Worm, adding: "We are also maximizing employee safety, as the sensor system detects approaching people or objects and automatically stops the shuttle to prevent collisions." as
