Flexible transportation with modular systems
At Logimat 2024, Item presented a system for the safe transportation of materials using driverless transport systems, its new overhead conveyor system and a versatile conveyor belt system.
The Item modular system enables application-specific solutions for various intralogistics challenges, including in the field of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Item is presenting a solution for AGVs that consists of a mobile transport frame and various superstructures. The base frames are compatible with the systems of well-known AGV manufacturers. Various superstructures can be connected to the racks via a standard interface. Whether pallets, pallet cages, individual shelving solutions or complete assembly attachments - users have many options for optimum adaptation to the respective transport task.
According to the company, the overhead conveyor system enables the simple, cost-effective and flexible provision of material. It is suitable for manual or semi-automated transportation and is an alternative to small load carriers (SLCs). It is designed for material up to a single weight of five kilograms, which can easily get stuck or would take up too much space in small load carriers.
The design is simple: ESD-safe trolleys are hooked into the Item running rail profiles. The individual profiles are up to six meters long and can be flexibly combined with each other. They are attached to the D30 profile tube system at an angle of three degrees and create transport trolleys or racks with an integrated overhead conveyor system.
According to the manufacturer, the conveyor belt system also offers maximum flexibility: the user can mount conveyor belts and drives on a customer-specific configurable base frame. The conveyor belts vary in terms of surface finish, width and ESD design. With the item railing system, piece goods, bulk goods and small load carriers can be transported safely on the conveyor belts. Width and height can be individually adjusted. The transported goods are guided directly along the low-friction aluminum profile.
