RS, the global provider of product and service solutions, has completed the acquisition of Distrelec , a digitally focused high-service distributor of industrial, maintenance, repair and operational (MRO) products, in a deal worth €365 million. This step had already been announced on April 27, 2023.

Distrelec serves around 180,000 customers in 19 countries, significantly expanding RS's presence in continental Europe, particularly in Germany, Switzerland and Sweden. Distrelec is headquartered in Manchester, UK, employs around 400 people and has 12 sales offices across Europe. In addition, the company operates two distribution centers in Switzerland and the Netherlands as well as a shared service center in Latvia.

Distrelec is a complementary company to RS with a comparable product range, strong customer focus and industry-leading product availability. Similar to RS, two thirds of Distrelec's sales come from digital channels and the average order value is also comparable to that of RS. The company's strong competitive position increases RS's sales by around 40% in the DACH region, by around 80% in Scandinavia and also has an impact on the Italian, Benelux and Eastern European markets.

There is a high degree of overlap in the largely European supplier base. The combination of the distribution networks should ensure an even better customer experience when placing orders with both companies, according to the company. This combination should also improve the operational efficiency of both RS and Distrelec. In addition, the cross-selling opportunities of the own brand and RS's range of solutions will result in increased sales synergies.

Distrelec will be integrated into the Group's EMEA region under the leadership of Peter Malpas (President EMEA, RS). Key members of the Distrelec management team include Raj Patel (Managing Director) and Ben Scholey (Chief Information Officer).
