Linear guides
Management exchanged
A manufacturer of blow molding systems was not satisfied with the service life of the linear guides on which the mold's clamping plates move. After analyzing the causes of failure, NSK recommended switching to the NH series linear guides, which are characterized by high load ratings and a long service life even under impact and shock loads.
The clamping plates of blow molding systems move on linear guides, which are subject to high demands. This is because the systems that produce hollow bodies, such as plastic bottles, work with short cycle times and high clamping forces. One manufacturer of these systems received complaints from customers because the linear guides showed visible wear after about a year. The supplier of the linear guides blamed misalignment - i.e. assembly inaccuracies on the part of the machine manufacturer. NSK was asked for an assessment; in addition to alignment errors, it was proven that the load ratings specified by the manufacturer were calculated using a method whose results were far removed from the valid ISO formulas. As a result, the manufacturer of blow molding machines replaced the old guideways and used those from the NH series.
Due to their optimized design, these linear guides generally have a long service life, especially under dynamic loads and overloads as well as the impact and shock loads that are unavoidable when used in blow moulding systems. Well-known manufacturers of plastics machines, machine tools and handling systems for semiconductor production use these linear guides. pb
