In the 3,800 square meter laboratory, igus puts its products through their paces under the most adverse conditions up to total failure in order to determine the service life of its products. The result: ten billion e-chain cycles per year. Based on this test data, the specialist was able to issue a 36-month warranty on its Chainflex cable range back in 2015.

To ensure that users are always on the safe side with their energy chains, Igus now guarantees a 36-month service life for its e-chains. This is made possible by the company's service life calculator. It uses the data from the test laboratory to determine the service life of the standard energy chains in the customer-specific application. Over 4,000 tests and more than 7,500 results flow into the online tool. More are being added every day in order to be able to make even more precise statements about the service life.

According to the manufacturer, the service life of energy chains is often ten years or more. "The new warranty service gives the buyer the security of knowing that their individual application has been designed exactly right and that they are always choosing the most cost-effective e-chain that is sure to work," explains Michael Blaß, Head of the E-Chain Systems division at Igus "If, contrary to expectations, an energy chain should fail due to wear within the warranty period, the customer will receive a free replacement." as
