New material Iglidur J200

Igus expands its range of thread systems

In the Igus online store, steep, trapezoidal and metric threads can be individually configured using the spindle configurator. In addition to three spindle materials, customers can choose from nine maintenance-free nut materials. Among them: the new highly wear-resistant Iglidur-J200 material with high efficiency.

Screw drives are responsible for adjustments - whether fast or slow. They ensure that a rotary movement is converted into a linear movement. The lubricant-free lead screws from Igus are used in retractable steps in trains and suburban trains, in 3D printers or in actuators for valves and fittings in chemical and process engineering. Designers can choose from a wide variety of drive systems and technologies for these different application scenarios in the Igus online thread store.

In addition to metric threads, trapezoidal and lead screw drives are also available. The latter can replace toothed belts or pneumatic cylinders, for example. With more than 70 different screw pitches, three screw materials, nine different nut materials - such as the new durable Iglidur J200 - in ten different designs, Igus offers the largest selection worldwide with more than 5,000 screw drive variants.

The thread store not only has an ordering function, but also the unique option of using a service life calculator to determine the service life of the system in cycles. The spindle configurator offers a further service. Here, the designer can simulate the spindle machining online on both sides, create a drawing and order the spindle directly online.

Up to three times longer service life

The new spindle nuts made from Iglidur J200 have a high degree of efficiency. In tests in the test laboratory, the material achieved a three times longer service life on hard-anodized aluminium spindles than the standard material for threaded nuts. In combination with aluminum, the new material reduces noise, dampens vibrations and is very light.

Classic applications include doors in railroad technology or aircraft, as well as applications in the handling and automation sector. The threaded nuts are available from stock in cylindrical or flanged form and can be used as steep threads or self-locking trapezoidal threads. as
