Rexroth expands portfolio

Additional sizes for ball screws

New pitches for ball screws from Bosch Rexroth open up more possibilities for optimizing the drivetrain.

Machine manufacturers increase productivity with faster linear movements. With higher forces and precision requirements, the fine interplay between the speed and torque of the electric drive and the size of the ball screw is crucial. With the four new sizes eight by five, 40 by 25, 40 by 30 and 50 by 30, Rexroth is further expanding its Basa ball screw product portfolio. With multi-start spindles and multi-start nuts, the load rating and service life of the ball screws increase.

Rexroth ball screw drives convert rotary movements of the motor into linear movements. The new sizes expand the variation options for designers in applications such as machine tools.

Rexroth's Basa product portfolio includes solutions for driven spindles and nuts as well as a wide range of nuts with DIN and Rexroth connection dimensions. In most applications, machine manufacturers use preloaded nuts for backlash-free movements with high repeat accuracy. Rexroth offers both preloaded nuts ex works and variants that can be individually adjusted by the user.

The contact point between the raceway and balls influences the running quality and load rating: When using the double thread of nut and spindle, the number of balls doubles for the same installation space, thus increasing the load capacity. This allows designers to choose a more compact design with smaller sizes for double-thread nuts compared to single-thread designs or to extend the service life when using the same size. The Basa product portfolio includes multi-start spindles and nuts as standard.

Rexroth manufactures the spindles as a mass-produced product in a rolling process as stock items. Production is so precise that the nut types can be manufactured separately. This enables the company to quickly deliver order-specific designs with standardized or individual end machining.

The Linear Motion Designer (LMD) calculation tool simplifies the design and calculation of ball screws. Designers then configure their variants using the online screw drive configurator. This guides users quickly and image-controlled through the configurations and automatically performs a plausibility check if parameters are changed. Finally, the LMD generates the CAD data and makes it available for download. In a further step, users can switch to the eShop and call up the price and delivery time. Rexroth supplies complete ball screws with machined ends and a selection of nuts as well as individual screws and nuts. as
