Real-time Linux implementation
Support for Real-Time Linux
Congatec is cooperating with OSADL, the Open Source Automation Development Lab, to optimize board support for Real-Time Linux and demonstrate this in the OSADL test tracks.
The challenge in implementing hard real-time Linux behavior is to master all processing layers from the BIOS to the Linux kernel to the user space.
In a first step, OSADL qualified the latest real-time Linux implementation from Congatec, which uses the Linux kernel 4.9.47-rt37 on the Conga-TS170 server-on-module, which is equipped with the Intel Xeon processor of the embedded server class (E3-1578L v5 @ 2.00 GHz). The COM Express Type 6 module installed on the Conga-Teval evaluation carrier board was convincing in the tests and, according to Congatec, demonstrated the best real-time capabilities in its class.
