DC contactors
Modular DC contactors switch bidirectionally
Schaltbau is presenting new DC contactors for the growing DC voltage application markets at the Hannover Messe. With the C310 series, the company offers a reliable alternative to the gas-encapsulated devices often used up to now.
The first types in the new series are designed for continuous currents of 150 A, 300 A and 500 A. The company is presenting an innovative solution based on its experience and expertise in the development of electromechanical switchgear and control of DC arcs. The modular concept allows the use of an arcing chamber for 60 V, 1,000 V or 1,500 V on the same basic device. These chambers work on a permanent magnetic basis and ensure compact dimensions and low weight. The arcing chambers can be removed without tools in order to inspect the contact system. By regulating the coil current, these devices always work reliably regardless of the ambient temperature. In addition, the energy consumption of the monostable version is low when switched on. The bistable version has no power consumption in either end position due to its design. The contactors in the C310 series have a high switch-on and switch-off capacity as well as a high short-time rated current.
The new DC contactors are robust against shock and vibration loads and meet the high requirements of ISO 12405 (automotive) and IEC 61373 (railroad applications). As both current directions are safely controlled, the contactors are ideal for all applications with energy recovery. A typical example of this is energy storage systems in which batteries are charged and discharged. Other areas of application for the C310 series include regenerative systems, battery-powered vehicles, DC charging stations and photovoltaic systems. In addition to the new DC contactors, the comprehensive range of connectors and snap-action switches will also be presented at the Hannover Messe. am
