Redundancy block for valve terminals

Mara Hofacker,

Solution for safety-related shutdown

To prevent emergencies from turning into accidents, fluidic systems in many applications must be designed with redundancy.

The devices are then switched in such a way that they automatically take over the function of a failed device. With the MKRS redundancy block, Bürkert Fluid Control Systems offers a practical solution for safety-related shutdown for its valve terminals.

The redundancy block was developed for applications with high safety requirements and is equipped with valves and pressure switches that are pneumatically installed in series behind the valves on the valve terminal. This ensures the redundant shut-off option. In addition, pressure switches on the redundancy block monitor the pressure before and after the shut-off valve.

It can be used when an immediate process stop is required in an emergency. Performance level D can be achieved with the appropriate wiring.
