Hydrogen and gas applications

High-pressure valves complement pipe connection system

Voss Fluid has acquired a majority stake in the Austrian company HypTec. As a result of the merger, the manufacturer of modern pipe connection systems is expanding its portfolio to include efficient high-pressure valve components for hydrogen applications and fluid gas transportation.

In combination with the proven VossLok 40 pipe forming system, the two partners are pooling synergies to create leak-proof connections for corresponding drive systems. The activities in this area are strategically combined in the "Fluid Transport & Storage" business unit.

Innovation partner and valve technology for a green future: this is the motto under which HypTec GmbH, founded in 2010, develops and sells hydrogen and natural gas technology. The Austrian company's portfolio includes tank valves, pressure control units, non-return valves and end plug units (EPU). A USP: The valves are used in the high-pressure range, but are up to four times smaller and six times lighter than comparable models. This results in almost silent operation with lower energy consumption. The advanced tank valve unfolds its full potential in combination with the VossLok 40 pipe forming system, which shows its strengths above all in the areas of tightness, ease of installation and high cost-effectiveness. The modern valves fit perfectly on the VossLok 40 contour and thus create a highly tight connection in hydrogen and gas-based drive systems - especially for the high-pressure range of up to 700 bar.

Expertise grows together

HypTec has made a name for itself as a leading market player, particularly with its state-of-the-art test center for hydraulic and pneumatic tests. Among other things, hydrogen tanks are tested there for well-known companies from all over Europe. For a long time, this center was HypTec's mainstay. Thanks to the new partnership with Voss Fluid, the focus is now more on valves. These valves score points first and foremost with their compact design based on the highest engineering standards. The portfolio now covers all valves from tanks to fuel cells. The merger of Voss Fluid and HypTec has resulted in systems for hydrogen applications and fluid gas transportation thanks to the highly complementary product solutions.

Pooling strengths with a focus on hydrogen

Voss Fluid and HypTec are an ideal match in their efforts to advance hydrogen technology. These competencies flow together in the new "Fluid Transport & Storage" business unit. For Christian Mertens, Managing Director of Voss Fluid, the interpersonal factor was also decisive for the cooperation: "With HypTec, we have gained a technically leading, highly innovative supplier of hydrogen high-pressure valve components and testing as a partner on an equal footing. This relationship is important to us, as the merger brings together the expertise of both sides and complements each other perfectly. This expands our product portfolio and significantly improves our opportunities in this dynamically developing market. And last but not least, the chemistry is just right - also because we are a perfect match on a personal level."

The greatly increased innovative strength resulting from the collaboration should establish the two companies as benchmark partners in a business area that is set to grow enormously in the future. Thomas Höller, Managing Director of HypTec, summarizes: "This merger will create an innovative, globally active company that places hydrogen technology as the basis of future mobility and energy supply to achieve our climate targets at the center of its efforts as one of its strategic goals. We are combining strengths such as innovation, flexibility, reliability and global market support to ensure the continued success of our customers."
