Scara robot

The new one fits on the wall

The SR-3iA with a payload capacity of three kilograms is the first model in Fanuc's newly developed Scara series. Fanuc is thus expanding its product line in the lower payload range with a cost-effective solution for high productivity.

With a cycle time of 0.57 seconds at continuous throughput (cycle 25 millimetres - 305 millimetres - 25 millimetres), the SR-3iA with a load of three kilograms is right up there with the competition, according to Fanuc. Its low weight (19 kilograms) makes it a lightweight. Compact, as befits a Scara, the SR-3iA requires little floor space. The Scara can not only be mounted upright, but also on the wall. The manufacturer also points out an excellent speed level and high precision. The lightweight works with a range of 400 millimetres and a stroke of 200 millimetres and positions with an accuracy of plus/minus 0.01 millimetres.

Such properties are particularly in demand in assembly and applications in the electronics industry, and Fanuc sees potential uses in the automotive, plastics and medical products sectors. However, the Scara also shows its strengths in testing and inspection processes or packaging tasks. The new R-30iB Compact Plus is used to control the Scara. As with the "large" robot controllers from Fanuc, the compact unit also offers proven features such as iRVision, iRPickTool and Conveyor Tracking. There is also a comprehensive range of software options so that applications can be implemented safely and reliably with tried and tested software. The iRProgrammer user interface developed specifically for the Scaras makes it easier to set up, program and operate the robot. iRProgrammer is part of the standard configuration of Scara robots and can replace the traditional teach panel as a user interface.

iRProgrammer supports all common web browsers on PCs and/or tablets. The supplied R-30iB Compact Plus controller supports both CE and NRTL marking. Additional features ensure uncomplicated handling and operation. These include integrated compressed air lines, a 24-volt DC supply and I/O signal cables on axis 2 of the robot. Two pneumatic valves for easy connection of a pneumatic gripper are also part of the standard configuration. An optional version is available in which the cables are routed through the floor. This protects cables and media lines, which are then not an obstacle in the work and movement area. as
