Kuka delivers 185 robots to the automotive supplier

The Korean automotive supplier Seojin Industrial, which manufactures for Hyundai and Kia, among others, has placed a major order with Kuka: 185 robots, mainly of the KR Quantec type, are to be used for welding and handling tasks.

The Korean company Seojin Industrial is expanding its experience with the help of automated production. From next year, the automotive supplier will be using more than 185 Kuka robots at its plants in Hwaseong and Gwangju to manufacture car parts for customers such as Hyundai and Kia.

In Hwaseong, Kuka is installing 105 KR Quantec robots, which will mainly be used for spot welding and handling tasks. The manufacturer is supplying 80 KR Quantec and KR Iontec robots to Gwangju.

Seojin Industrial has been a Kuka customer since 2017; the order is in the single-digit million euro range and was booked in the second quarter of 2020. as
