Winfried Kretschmann informs himself at the MPA stand

At the Hannover Messe, Baden-Württemberg's Minister President Winfried Kretschmann paid a visit to the stand of the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) at the University of Stuttgart. The MPA focused on the topic of e-mobility at this year's trade fair.

Together with the Institute for Entrepreneurship (ENI) and the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Production Facilities (ISW) at the University of Stuttgart, the Materials Testing Institute (MPA) at the University of Stuttgart has further developed the patented robot-guided welding gun "SteppWelder" for use in car body construction. The project was funded by the BMBF. The "SteppWelder" can be used to produce high-strength joints on aluminum alloys and mixed joints using friction stir welding.

Transformation hub CyberJoin: support for the automotive industry and suppliers

The CyberJoin transformation hub will also be exhibiting at the stand. This supports car manufacturers and suppliers on their path to e-mobility. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) has set up a total of eleven transformation hubs to promote electromobility. They support the automotive industry and suppliers along the value chain: from new mobility concepts and the development of battery and wiring harnesses to the production of car bodies and interiors.

Across the entire value chain, the CyberJoin transformation hub imparts knowledge and skills in joining processes, production technology and materials technology.
