Replaceable head drill
Interchangeable drill bits for long service life
Iscar has expanded its Cham IQ Drill line to include diameters ranging from 33 to 40 millimetres and drilling depths from 1.5 to 8xD. The replaceable head drills are characterized by their long tool life and high surface quality when machining steel and cast iron workpieces. Users can dispense with pilot holes up to a drilling depth of 5xD.
The drill heads can be changed quickly, screws or other spare parts are not required. The clamping force is built up exclusively in the V-shaped carbide pin and leads to stable processes, especially with irregular cutting forces, such as those that occur when drilling on inclined surfaces. The concave HFP-IQ cutting edge geometry reduces the axial forces. The heads mounted on monoblock drill bodies made of hard steel enable fast machining and save tool costs thanks to their long service life.
The special cutting geometry also allows high feed rates and achieves very tight hole tolerances of IT8 to IT9. All drill heads are equipped with the PVD-TiAlN-coated cutting material grade IC908. This is wear-resistant and tough. Large polished chambers ensure that chips are removed quickly and cleanly, thus preventing obstruction of the drilling process and clogging of the machine compartment. The tools have an internal coolant supply. This acts directly in the cutting zone and prevents wear due to overheating. With sufficient machine performance, the Cham IQ Drill series can replace semi-effective drills with large diameters. The typical areas of application are the machining of ISO-P (steel) and ISO-K (cast iron) materials. am
