Renaissance of metal-bonded grinding wheels

The metal-bonded "Contour Profiled" profile grinding wheel from Lach-Diamant produces concave or convex profiles with a tolerance of up to 0.005 mm.

The technology offers several advantages over resin-bonded profile wheels. The latter require several passes when deep grinding components made of carbide, high-alloy steels or ceramics such as aluminum oxide, magnesium oxide or even non-oxide ceramics such as silicon nitride; with metal-bonded grinding wheels, this is possible in just one work step. According to the company, abrasive and grinding wheel costs can be reduced by a factor of 8. With "Contour Profiled", time savings of 35 to 60 percent can also be achieved through higher feed rates per workpiece.
