Focal points and highlights of AMB 2024

Every two years, the heart of the metalworking industry beats at AMB in Stuttgart, making Baden-Württemberg the international meeting place for the sector.

"We are not only, as the campaign "The Länd" so beautifully puts it, the true land of unlimited possibilities. Above all, we are also the land of unlimited possibilities in the metalworking industry and thus "The Land of Metalworking" ," said Sebastian Schmid, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Stuttgart, at the preview of AMB 2024 on June 10. Schmid was highly satisfied with the strong registration figures for this year's international exhibition for metalworking. "With over 1,200 companies from 30 countries, AMB 2024 is fully booked and the number will rise again due to late registrations from co-exhibitors." Visitors to AMB can therefore look forward to a wide range of exhibitors, where leading global manufacturers of metal-cutting machine tools and precision tools will be represented alongside high-performance SMEs and innovative start-ups from the region.

Focus on communication between machines

This year's AMB will once again focus on the latest developments in machine tools and production systems, control systems and drives, automation solutions and the associated measuring and testing technology. When it comes to Industry 4.0, the importance of which has once again increased massively in the metal industry, interested parties can find out about intelligent networks, automation solutions, CAD/CAM applications, collaborative robotics and AI. The umati (universal machine technology interface) initiative, which is supported by the VDW and VDMA, has its own special show on the dissemination and use of open interface standards based on OPC UA. It shows how machines and systems can communicate with each other or be integrated into customer and user-specific IT ecosystems. Machine interaction is also the focus of the SmartFactory, a fully automated process chain in the East entrance area. Several manufacturers will be demonstrating how systems interact via interfaces. Visitors to the stand can use ordering software to initiate the production of a multi-tool cube made of aluminum, which will be produced live at the trade fair. As soon as the workpiece is finished, the person who placed the order receives a message that their multi-tool is ready for collection.

Comprehensive networking offer and new award

However, it is not only machines that are networked at AMB, but traditionally also people - and that with several attractive offers from this year's supporting program. For example, the International Gallery in the Oskar Lapp Hall (Hall 6) offers trade fair guests and teams from exhibiting companies a platform to make contacts with leading associations in the international market. Messe Stuttgart is also organizing country-specific happy hours at AMB to facilitate networking.

In the trade fair park, there will be the opportunity to round off the day with after-work drinks and snacks and chat in a relaxed atmosphere. The stainless steel smoker "Big Louis", which made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2015 as the largest smoker of its kind, is sure to be a real highlight, and not just for barbecue fans. Trade fair partner Ludwig Grill, who manufactured the mega appliance in Baden-Württemberg, will be available in the trade fair park to answer questions about its production.

The AMB Award will celebrate its premiere at AMB 2024. The award recognizes outstanding new and further developments in various product categories that represent significant added value for the industry. The exhibits submitted will be evaluated on the basis of various criteria by a high-caliber neutral jury, in which associations and science are equally represented.

Convenient and efficient trade fair visit with the AMB app

Another new feature at AMB 2024 will make it even easier to plan your visit and find your way around the exhibition grounds and halls: the AMB App. It allows you to prepare your visit to the trade fair quickly and easily. It not only provides all the important information about AMB, including the supporting program, lectures and workshops, but also allows you to create an individual exhibitor list for an efficient day at the trade fair using a favorites function. An interactive hall plan ensures that users always have an overview. The AMB app for iOS and Android is available for download.
