Solid drilling in steel
Economical even in difficult drilling situations
Mapal launches tools for solid drilling in steel. The Mega-Deep-Drill and Mega-Pilot Drill series can be used to drill the smallest holes as well as deep holes.
Mapal is launching the Mega-Deep-Drill and Mega-Pilot-Drill series for deep holes with the smallest diameters. As a pilot drill, the mega-Pilot-Drill is matched to the Mega-Deep-Drill deep hole drill. The latter was specially developed for the diameter range from 1 to 2.9 mm. At the same time, the company has redesigned the flute and reworked the face grinding so that even higher feed rates and cutting speeds are possible. In addition, the Mega-Deep-Drill has a head coating that is said to have a positive effect on chip removal.
For machining depths up to 12xD
The Mega-Drill-Hardened and Mega-Speed-Drill-Inox series are also suitable for steel machining, even with hardened material or at greater drilling depths. The latter has been developed for machining depths of 8xD and 12xD. For the Mega-Drill-Hardened, the macro and micro geometry of the tool has been specially adapted for hard machining up to 65 HRC. According to the company, a new carbide substrate and a new type of coating ensure long tool life.
A new flute profile for drilling depths of 8xD and 12xD has been specially developed for the Mega-Speed-Drill-Inox. It is characterized by chip spaces that become larger towards the shank. This prevents the chips from jamming in the flute. In addition, the flutes are precision ground.
QTD insert drill with pyramid tip
The precision tool manufacturer offers a new insert with a pyramid tip for the QTD insert drill if steel is to be machined in unstable machining conditions while using as little carbide as possible. The tip centers the insert. In addition, the coating of the insert has been specially adapted to the machining of steel.
