Precision cooling
Longer tool life
Sandvik Coromant has further improved its Coromant Capto toolholders for T-Max-P indexable inserts for turning.
The new tool holders enable longer tool life and higher productivity during machining thanks to targeted cooling from above and below that is guided through the tool. Machining operations such as turning steel generate high cutting forces for the cutting tools used. Turning tools with precision nozzles for introducing coolant into the chip formation zone can ensure controlled chip breaking and reliable machining. The targeted supply of coolant helps to regulate chip breaking. It controls the machining temperature for a long tool life and has a positive effect on the surface quality.
The Coromant Capto modular quick-change tool concept offers a wide range of extension and reduction adapters for assembling tools with different lengths and design features. The Coromant Capto tool holders are part of a range of tools that combine the modular Coromant Capto interface with the T-Max P clamping system and are available in two versions: as T-Max P with toggle clamping for turning medium to large components and as T-Max P with RC clamping for maximum process reliability. The tool holders for the T-Max P benefit from precision cooling from above and below. The coolant is supplied to both the flank and the rake face of the indexable insert. Precision cooling from above improves chip formation so that machining processes run more reliably. Integrated cooling from below can also increase tool life by up to 20 percent.
