Thermoforming test system for non-contact strain measurement

Zwick Roell has developed a universal deep-drawing testing system for sheet metal forming, which is designed for different processes and is mounted on the moving crosshead of a static materials testing machine.

In addition to cupping tests according to Erichsen, Nakajima or Marciniak, it is also designed for hole expansion and cell drawing tests. At the heart of the testing system is a laser extensometer, which measures the elongation of the sheet surface without contact and stops forming when the target value is reached.
