Robot bends pipes
Wafios presented the Twister² robot bender at its in-house exhibition. The machine concept for tube bending consists of a forming unit and a fully integrated robot. The company's own WPS 3.2 Easy Way programming system offers a common user interface for both system components, enabling the interaction of bending and handling tasks. This allows three-dimensional geometries to be produced.
With the Twister² from Wafios, the 6-axis robot performs feeding and handling tasks as well as the feed during the bending process. Various gripper systems are available to the robot for tube handling.
The Wafios turning pliers with a rotation angle of ±190°, for example, are suitable for bending components in a single set-up. It is suitable for bending components in a single clamping operation, especially for geometries with long clamping lines. The hydropneumatic gripper only has a limited angle of rotation and is preferably used for bent parts with short clamping lines. The same applies to the pneumatic gripper, but it has less clamping force than the hydropneumatic gripper.
The working range of the bending heads extends from 12.7 × 1 mm to 20 × 2 mm tube diameter. There are also bending heads that allow single-direction bending or complete right and left bending in one cycle.
