Blechexpo and Schweisstec

Andreas Mühlbauer,

From lightweight construction to digitalization

Blechexpo and Schweisstec, the biennial trade fair duo for sheet metal working and joining technology, will once again take place in Stuttgart from November 5 to 8. All aspects of sheet metal processing and the associated thermal or mechanical cutting, joining and bonding technology will take center stage.

Almost 1,500 German and international exhibitors will be showcasing their products and technologies at this extremely practice-oriented trade fair. It goes without saying that digitalization also plays an important role in the sheet metal and metal processing sector today. This is why it also occupies a central position in Stuttgart.

As a modern material, sheet metal is a suitable alternative to often more solid steel or cast constructions or plastic components. Sheet metal is suitable for lightweight construction and enables comparatively cost-effective approaches in aircraft, machine and apparatus construction. Sheet metal is also easy to machine. Accordingly, the cutting, punching and forming of steel, aluminum and non-ferrous metal sheets play an important role at Blechexpo and Schweisstec. Other topics include pre- and final processing, assembly completion and surface finishing.

The Schall trade fair will also focus on lightweight construction, design, handling and quality assurance as well as automation and digitalization in sheet metal processing and joining technology. Of course, the exchange of ideas will not be neglected this time either: The expert meeting under the motto "The steel industry in times of globalization and Industry 4.0" is aimed at experts from the steel and sheet metal processing industry, operators of steel service centers and steel distributors. Lectures will also be held as part of the Blechexpo Forum. The ZVEI's Schweisstec Day will take place on November 7, 2019.
