Wireless industrial switching devices

Marvin Meyke,

Radio-based communication as added value in the industry

The Steute Technologies business unit Controltec presented itself at the Hannover Messe with wireless industrial switching devices in a suitable environment - at the Industrial Wireless Arena + 5G Networks & Applications at the VDMA joint stand.

Under the motto "Robust industrial switchgear combined with smart wireless technology", Steute presented wireless switchgear for industrial applications that has been developed from the ground up for this purpose. This applies both to the "hardware" of the switchgear and sensors and to the radio system. In industrial applications, there is radiation and interference from other radio signals. In most cases, the requirements for availability and transmission speed are very high.

In addition, the demands on mechanical properties and service life require a robust design that is adapted to the operating conditions. The manufacturer meets these requirements with its range of industrial-grade wireless switching devices. The basis is formed by switching devices and sensors that function reliably even under harsh and extreme environmental conditions and have a long service life. They are radio-capable thanks to integrated or separate radio modules that communicate with the associated evaluation unit via the sWave radio system, also developed by Steute.

The range of wireless switching devices includes several series of electromechanical position switches as well as foot switches, non-contact inductive sensors and optical sensors. Wireless technology is already proving its worth in many industrial applications. Wherever cable connections are not feasible or lead to damage or wear, wireless products can be a solution - for example on machine tools, robots or in other areas of mechanical engineering where they need to be installed quickly and work without interference.
