Euchner presents future-proof safety solutions for automation
Euchner is presenting its latest new developments for communication via IO-Link, via AS-i Safety at Work and via the common fieldbus systems at automatica under the motto "Smart Safety".
Innovative safety technology that safely protects people, machines and processes and meets today's communication requirements is in demand in automated production. The expert team for machine safety from Euchner Safety Services will be informing visitors to automatica about the new compact powerhouse among solenoid interlocks - and the MGB2 Modular door protection system.
The compact and flexible CTS safety switch
The CTS safety switch is one of the latest developments in transponder-coded solenoid interlocks. Thanks to its small dimensions (135 x 31 x 31 mm), a high locking force of max. 3900 N and its flexible installation options, the switch is particularly versatile. The CTS has three possible installation orientations so that it can secure swing and sliding doors. An escape release can be retrofitted at any time. As a transponder-coded safety switch with guard locking, it offers a high level of safety.
With the "FlexFunction", the CTS also combines various functions in one device. Whether with or without guard locking monitoring, whether high- or low-coded evaluation of the actuator code - the CTS gives users the choice. The function is selected via the corresponding actuator. As is usual with Euchner switches, the CTS also has various connection options. In combination with a Euchner IO-Link gateway, the CTS is also communication-capable and can therefore be used for Industry 4.0 applications.
Into the future with IO-Link
The option of non-safe communication via IO-Link is standard for all Euchner smart safety solutions. Using an IO-Link gateway from Euchner, process and device data can be read from a safety switch. The data and information are transmitted in real time to the IO-Link master, which makes them available to the various fieldbus systems. The process data includes all signaling signals, such as door position, guard locking position or information on whether a switch is out of adjustment. In addition, environmental data such as the switch temperature or the voltage applied, the number of switching cycles and other values can be queried using acyclical services. IO-Link-capable communication helps to increase flexibility and efficiency in automated production. Devices can be installed and replaced quickly. The data can be used effectively by the user for preventive maintenance. The result: machine availability is increased and productivity is boosted.
MGB2 Modular: New networking options for EtherCAT/ FSoE
The MGB2 Modular secures access points in safety doors and fences to hazardous areas in machines and systems. The highly functional door locking system is already being used successfully in many industries. Users are impressed by the system's modular design and high degree of customization. This is also reflected in the many connection options: In addition to the PROFINET/ PROFIsafe and EtherCAT P/ FSoE bus protocol, users now also have an MBM bus module for connection to the safe EtherCAT/ FSoE.
Designed as a modular system, the MGB2 Modular consists of a locking module, submodules for operating and display elements and optional extension modules. The user selects the MBM bus module for the connection. As smart devices, the individual devices provide a wide range of diagnostic data such as voltage, temperature or number of switching cycles.
A special new addition to the MGB2 world is the new submodule with the secure key system CKS2. Together they form a powerful duo that opens up many new application possibilities. The CKS2 Electronic-Key system can be used to lock and start machines and systems, to assign authorizations for selecting an operating mode or as a key transfer system. By using highly encoded RFID keys, the system guarantees maximum security. The connection of the MGB2 via bus systems allows the monitoring of all key fixtures in the overall control system.
Consulting, engineering and training for machine safety
Euchner Safety Services will be presenting its portfolio of consulting and engineering services at automatica. The competence team supports manufacturers and operators in all phases of the life cycle of machines and systems in order to fulfill the legal safety requirements. With its engineering services, the experienced team can support customers as a full-service provider - in addition to design and planning, this also includes implementation, i.e. the integration of safety-related solutions. Machine operators in particular benefit from an all-round service for conversions, integrations and retrofits. The Euchner Academy also offers machine manufacturers and operators practical training courses on all aspects of machine safety, which are developed and supervised by proven experts.
