RS Components expands parts library

RS Components has announced a major expansion of its PCB Part Library. This part library serves as an important tool for engineers developing printed circuit boards and gives them direct access to schematic symbols and dimensions.

The library now includes more than 10,000 new models from various leading manufacturers, including C&K Switches, On Semiconductor and Rohm Semiconductor.

RS set up the PCB Part Library together with SamacSys in 2017. The library offers quick and easy access to component models. This saves PCB and electronics developers the time-consuming and potentially error-prone task of creating part libraries manually.

Focus on the overall design

"The PCB Part Library helps engineers because they no longer have to source and design their models and dimensions from scratch, but can instead focus on the overall design," explains Mike Bray, Vice President of DesignSpark. "RS recognized this need, so we worked closely with SamacSys to create this parts library. Our strong relationships with manufacturers have allowed us to significantly expand the range of models available."

"We are working with component manufacturers such as On Semiconductor, who have shown their willingness to provide valuable design resources such as symbols and PCB dimensions," adds Alex MacDougall, Managing Director at SamacSys. "It's fantastic that the most important companies in the electronics industry are working with us. Thanks to our partnership with RS, we can continue our mission to enable even more engineers to develop products in even less time."

The schematic symbols and dimensions in the PCB Part Library can be used in all leading PCB design software packages, including the free PCB tool DesignSpark.

The PCB Part Library can be accessed via the RS website or via the RS component search engine.
