Anniversary in Minden
75 years of Harting
September 1 marked the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Harting family business. In 1945, Wilhelm and Marie Harting opened the "Wilhelm Harting Mechanische Werkstätten" in a repair store measuring just over 100 square meters in Minden, Westphalia.
Wilhelm Harting initially concentrated on everyday consumer goods, which were in short supply after the war: Immersion heaters, hotplates, energy-saving lamps and electric firelighters sold like hot cakes. His wife delivered the goods by bike in the Minden area, paying for them with food. The manufacturer of everyday products has become a leading provider of industrial connection technology for the three lifelines of data, signal and power. In October 2015, Dietmar Harting handed over the baton as CEO to his son Philip after almost 50 years at the helm of the technology group. Since then, Philip Harting and his sister Maresa Harting-Hertz have been managing the Technology Group closely with their parents Margrit and Dietmar Harting in the second and third generation. The 75th anniversary was celebrated in Minden with many celebrities, among the 100 invited guests were the two former German presidents Dr. Joachim Gauck and Christian Wulff, the CEO of Deutsche Messe, Dr. Jochen Köckler, his predecessor Sepp Heckmann, discus world champion and Olympic champion Robert Harting.
