Cooperation with Taiwan

WZL and NCKU DLT Lab plan collaboration

On November 7, the Machine Tool Laboratory of RWTH Aachen University (WZL), represented by Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.Ing. Daniel Trauth, and the NCKU DLT Lab, represented by Prof. Kun-Ta Chuang, signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Both institutions have agreed to work together under the project name WZL x NCKU x IOTA PoC in the field of the Internet of Things, Internet of Production and a Distributed Ledger Technology-driven Data Economy.

The aim of the project is to identify the limits and challenges in the areas of education, consulting and research and development in the field of a DLT-driven data economy. The Industrial IOTA Lab Aachen (IILA) and the Blockchain Industry and Innovation Lab (BiiLabs) are also involved in the PoC. This ensures a secure and trustworthy IoP solution based on DLT. The project started in November.

National Cheng Kung University and NCKU DLT Lab

National Cheng Kung University is one of the top four internationally ranked universities in Taiwan and one of the top ranked universities in Asia. It is best known for its engineering, computer science, medicine, planning and design. As of 2018, the QS World University Rankings ranked NCKU 222nd overall in the world, 35th in Asia and 4th in the nation. The NCKU DLT Lab aims to build a more open, accessible and fair future with blockchain and distributed ledger technology. The NCKU Lab specializes in working with businesses to develop strategic approaches to implementing blockchain technologies.

Machine Tool Laboratory WZL of RWTH Aachen University

The Machine Tool Laboratory WZL at RWTH Aachen University has stood for pioneering research and innovation in the field of production technology for more than 100 years. Under the direction of the four professors Thomas Bergs, Christian Brecher, Robert Schmitt and Günther Schuh, the WZL conducts research in six areas - production engineering, machine tools, production technology, gear technology, production metrology and quality management - on the future-oriented design of production in high-wage countries.

Together with industrial partners from various sectors, the WZL develops solutions for a wide range of production-related topics in publicly funded and bilateral projects.
