Schaeffler appoints Uwe Wagner as member of the Executive Board
The Supervisory Board of Schaeffler AG has appointed Uwe Wagner (54), Head of Research and Development Automotive OEM and Industrial, as a member of the Board of Managing Directors of Schaeffler AG for a three-year term of office effective January 1, 2020.
Wagner will succeed Professor Dr.-Ing. Peter Gutzmer (65), who is retiring after his contract expires on December 31, 2019. He will take over his duties as Chief Technology Officer.
In addition, the Supervisory Board has decided to extend the contract of Matthias Zink (49), CEO of the Automotive OEM division, by a further five years until December 31, 2024.
Commenting on the personnel changes, Georg F. W. Schaeffler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Schaeffler, said: "We are pleased to appoint Mr. Uwe Wagner, another top talent from the Schaeffler Group, to the Board of Managing Directors of Schaeffler AG. As Chief Technology Officer, he will assume a key position for the further development of the Schaeffler Group. Professor Gutzmer has worked for the Schaeffler Group for more than 17 years. He has shaped the company with great passion and innovative strength. On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I would like to thank Professor Dr. Gutzmer, who held the position of Deputy CEO in addition to his role as Chief Technology Officer, for his outstanding work and extraordinary commitment."
