Prof. Dr. Steger becomes spokesman of the DAGM Technical Committee
Prof. Dr. Carsten Steger, Director of Research at Munich-based MVTec Software, has been elected Spokesman of the Technical Committee of the German Association for Pattern Recognition (DAGM). Steger is the first time in the association's history that an industry representative with a renowned scientific background has held this prominent position.
The purpose of the DAGM is the research and promotion of scientific work in the field of pattern recognition, the mutual exchange of experience and the joint treatment of scientific and technical issues from the entire field of pattern recognition. The most important instrument is the annual German Conference on Pattern Recognition (GCPR). The tasks of the Technical Committee include in particular the formulation of proposals for future research topics. The Technical Committee is to develop perspectives for future-oriented work in the field of pattern recognition and, in particular, develop proposals for the organization of DAGM conferences.

Carsten Steger is one of the co-founders of the company and head of the research department. He has also been an honorary professor for image understanding and industrial image processing at the Faculty of Computer Science at the Technical University of Munich since 2011. He has more than 25 years of experience in computer science and industrial image processing. At MVTec, he is a driving force behind the development of solutions for technologically demanding customer requirements.
