The packaging specialist recorded a 2.5% increase in turnover in 2020.
At its annual press conference today, the Crailsheim-based company reported positive figures and an annual turnover of 281 million euros. All orders for 2021 have already been acquired. International growth, increasingly in the USA and Europe, is currently being driven primarily by the manufacturer's immediately available and pre-formatted Lightline machine range, which enables customers to react quickly to market trends, as well as progress in the development of tools for process optimization using predictive maintenance (GRIPS.world). The establishment of industrial on-demand 3D printing processes for additive manufacturing in both the plastics and metal sectors and the consistent further development of sustainable packaging solutions with a strong focus on consulting are additional success factors in the current business development.
Business in the USA developed particularly positively in this context. The Schubert subsidiary generated sales of around 82 million US dollars in North America in 2020. In addition to upward trends at Schubert UK and the main European markets of France and Italy, the Polish market is also becoming increasingly important for the manufacturer.
New member of the management team
In terms of personnel, the family business is expanding its management team with Johannes Schubert, who will become Managing Director of the subsidiary Schubert Packaging Systems GmbH. His father Gerald Schubert was already responsible for the company as Managing Director. Now the 31-year-old son is following in his footsteps. He will take over the position of Managing Director from July 1, 2021.
Construction of the new assembly hall will begin in the second half of 2021 as part of the planned expansion of the Crailsheim site. Prior to this, the adjacent highway was relocated in 2019 for the extensive construction work in order to create space and optimal conditions for up to 300 additional employees.
Self-developed cobot
On a technological level, Schubert is now launching its Cobot "tog.519", a completely in-house development that is characterized by high working speed, precise image recognition and simple teaching.
