iF Design Award 2019
Award for CmStick/B protection hardware from Wibu-Systems
The CmStick/B protective hardware from Wibu-Systems was awarded the world-renowned iF Design Award 2019 in the Product/Computer category.
The compact and robust encryption hardware contains all CodeMeter functions. The reduced yet sophisticated design meets the requirements for software monetization and cybersecurity solutions that have grown due to Industry 4.0. Thanks to SiP technology (System in Package), low weight and dimensions, the USB connector can be fully integrated into the metal housing, making the CmDongle more resistant to mechanical shocks in harsh environments. The components security controller, optional flash memory and its controller are suitable for use in production.
The CmStick/B complements the various protective hardware variants developed by Wibu-Systems. The CmStick/BMC with MLC flash memory (multi-level cell technology) and the CmStick/BMI with pSLC flash memory, based on pseudo single-level cell memory technology, are also equipped with this robust and elegant metal housing. Each of these three variants serves special requirements - from office use to industrial applications. These hardware variants are part of the wide-ranging license containers, which also include USB sticks, secure memory cards and ASICs.
Many companies took part in the competition to receive the coveted seal of approval: There were 6,400 submissions from 50 countries. The CmStick/B impressed the 67-member, independent international jury of experts with its innovation, functionality and aesthetic features. The design prize is awarded once a year by the world's oldest independent design institution, iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover. The award ceremony will take place on March 15 at BMW Welt in Munich. Afterwards, the USB plug will be on display for three months in the iF Design exhibition in Hamburg and will be presented in the "Design Excellence" section of the iF World Design Guide.
Oliver Winzenried, CEO and founder of the company, explains why design should not be underestimated: "The design phase of a new product is one of the most interesting moments in the life cycle of new hardware: market expectations and technological constraints are set against user-friendliness, functionality and aesthetics. Dongles have been around for over 30 years now. With the CmStick/B, CmStick/BMC and CmStick/BMI, we wanted to redefine the concept of dongles, find the optimal compromise in terms of handling and functionality and offer both business and industrial customers durability and robustness. The iF Design Award 2019 fills me with pride and emphasizes how important it is to constantly invest in research and development."
During Embedded World, the stick can be viewed from February 26 to 28 at the company's stand in Hall 4, Stand 360.
