Hannover Messe 2024
Partner for the energy transition
Every Hannover Messe traditionally has a partner country. Last year it was Indonesia, this year it is Norway. The Scandinavian kingdom is coming to the trade fair with a clear message: "Pioneer in green industrial change" is the motto for 2024. Two stands underpin this claim: the main stand in Hall 12 and the hydrogen pavilion in Hall 13.
Norway is not only a classic dream destination for Germans, it is also one of Germany's most important energy suppliers, whose importance has grown enormously in the last two years. The fact that the country also has a powerful and innovative industry, which is at the forefront of certain technologies worldwide, tends to fade into the background. Hannover Messe 2024 now offers Norway the opportunity to showcase products and solutions from its cutting-edge industries, including carbon storage (CCS), hydrogen, battery technology, AI and machine learning, under the theme "Pioneering the Green Industrial Transition". With a special focus on clean energy and Industry 4.0, a selection of companies will demonstrate Norway's ambition for a low-carbon society and its key role in developing the solutions needed for industrial transformation and achieving net zero.
"Norway is honored to be the partner country of Hannover Messe. Norway's highly skilled workforce, advanced industry and energy technology, and high levels of trust and stability make us an important partner in the green transition and one of the most attractive countries in the world to do business. We look forward to showcasing the Norwegian way of doing business and highlighting what Norway has to offer," says Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre.
All about energy
Norway will be represented with a country pavilion in Hall 12 (Energy Solutions) and with a pavilion specifically dedicated to hydrogen in Hall 13. The country pavilion will focus on clean energy and Industry 4.0, with key players such as Statkraft, Equinor, Yara, Siemens and Morrow Batteries. Together, Norwegian companies will demonstrate the key role of Norwegian industry in the green transition with products and solutions from sectors such as hydrogen, CCS, AI and machine learning, digital infrastructure, batteries and charging infrastructure, and minerals and materials technology. "Norway and Germany are important trading partners, and we have entered into a strategic industrial partnership for renewable energy and green industry. We hope that the Norwegian presence at Hannover Messe will further strengthen this close cooperation between our two countries," said Minister Vestre.
Integration into the European single market
One advantage for Norway is its full integration into the European Single Market through the EEA Agreement, so that trade and investment flows seamlessly between Norway, Germany and the rest of the EU. Norway and Germany are important trading partners and have entered into a strategic partnership in the areas of climate, renewable energy and green industry to work even more closely together on the green transition.
This is all the more rewarding as Norway is at the forefront of sustainable technologies and innovation, particularly in renewable energy, electromobility and green infrastructure. Notable examples include the Longship project, the world's first large-scale carbon capture and storage project, the MF Hydra project, which unveiled the world's first liquid hydrogen-powered ferry, and Yara's construction of the world's first clean, ammonia-powered container ship. Norway also has the highest penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) in the world and has a high level of expertise in battery applications for land and sea transportation.
