GF agrees strategic partnership with 3D Systems

GF Machining Solutions, a division of GF, has entered into a strategic cooperation with 3D Systems, Rock Hill (USA), a specialist in additive manufacturing. The aim is to jointly develop integrated manufacturing solutions based on 3D printing.

The launch will take place in September at the IMTS (International Manufacturing Technology Show) in Chicago (USA). The plan is to present a new, jointly developed machine for additive manufacturing there.

The cooperation includes the development of a new generation of 3D printing solutions. It combines 3D Systems' experience in additive manufacturing and GF's expertise in conventional metalworking. The combination of 3D printers, materials, software, electrical discharge machining (EDM), milling and laser technologies enables seamless and efficient workflows. This meets customers' need to produce complex metal parts with tight tolerances at lower overall costs.

"We are delighted with this partnership between two leading industrial companies," says GF CEO Yves Serra. "With the combined experience and expertise of 3D Systems and GF Machining Solutions, we are ideally positioned to offer our customers new manufacturing solutions based on 3D printing."

"The partnership between 3D Systems and GF Machining Solutions brings together two customer-centric, innovative companies that are redefining metal part manufacturing," said Vyomesh Joshi, President and CEO of 3D Systems. "As industry leaders, both companies share the same vision to transform manufacturing. We look forward to delivering integrated technology solutions that improve customers' processes. In doing so, we will help them gain significant competitive advantages through shorter production times, faster part production and lower overall costs."
