ebm-papst and Hyting enter into partnership
Development of hydrogen-powered heat generators
ebm-papst and Hyting, a start-up for hydrogen heating systems, have announced a strategic partnership for the development and production of hydrogen-powered heat generators.
Hyting's innovative concept offers a simple, safe, efficient and clean way to generate heat directly from hydrogen - without combustion. The young company has developed a patent-pending air heating system that uses a catalytic process to convert hydrogen and oxygen from the air into heat. The catalyst acts as a reaction accelerator. Unlike systems that rely on the combustion of hydrogen to generate heat, Hyting's technology produces no NOx or particulate emissions - the only by-product is water. Furthermore, no flammable hydrogen concentrations are used at any time.
The system is modular and highly scalable, with rated outputs ranging from 10 to 300 kW, allowing it to be configured for a variety of different applications. These include heating commercial and private buildings as well as commercial vehicles. Prototypes are currently in the test phase and the first customer installations are expected in Germany by Q1 2025.
In this partnership, ebm-papst will use its extensive experience and infrastructure to accelerate the development and market launch of Hyting's heat generator portfolio. Heating technology specialist ebm-papst has been conducting research in the field of hydrogen for years, including in its own hydrogen laboratory at the Landshut site. The company's gas products are already certified for the admixture of hydrogen and can therefore be optimally used in the Hyting heat generator. ebm-papst plans to manufacture the Hyting heat generators in its state-of-the-art production facilities.
"We are excited and proud to be working with ebm-papst," says Tim Hannig, founder and Managing Director of Hyting. "ebm-papst's knowledge, skills, experience and infrastructure will significantly accelerate our market entry while mitigating risks."
"We see great potential in Hyting's innovative technology and are therefore delighted to be cooperating with Hyting in a joint R&D collaboration. This also fits in with our multi-technology approach to heating technology," explains Dr. Hannes Säubert, CEO Heating Technology at ebm-papst.
