Concept for Industry 4.0 tool logistics

EVO and Bilz cooperate

Software manufacturer EVO Informationssysteme and Bilz Werkzeugfabrik have entered into a strategic collaboration. Together, they aim to tap into the possibilities of digitalization in machining, particularly for SMEs and mid-sized companies.

Digitalization in machining

The specific aim of the partnership is to integrate RFID technology into software-supported tool management as an inexpensive "retrofit package". While the contactless identification and localization of objects can already be found in many areas, the technology is still being used rather hesitantly in tool management.

Companies benefit in the form of shorter set-up times per order and new possibilities for standardization through transparency in tool use. Suitable tool replacements can be found quickly and save time-consuming set-up times and machine wear due to inappropriate tool use. If tools are discontinued, database information is available quickly and clearly and all affected processes can be updated completely and without errors. This option is particularly interesting because it can be retrofitted into existing systems and does not require a cost-intensive reorientation of tool management.

The cooperation between EVO-Software and Bilz Werkzeugfabrik presents itself as a system solution. Modern, very small and lightweight TDSc data carriers from Bilz, similar to a dowel, are retrofitted into existing tool holders.

What is innovative is that this retrofitting is carried out mechanically and directly at the user's premises without the additional use of adhesives. The tool can be returned to the production cycle immediately after the data carrier has been used. The EVOtools tool database forms the basis of tool data management. The RFID tools are uniquely identified and information such as tool technology data can be retrieved quickly and easily.

Let's see this tool as a CRM for tool management: smart software and retrofitted TDSc data carriers can be used to digitally map a traceability concept for the tools and the entire tool life cycle. kp
