New Solidcam version
Complete CNC production
At Intec 2019, Solidcam will be showcasing the entire performance spectrum of the leading complete CAM solution for CNC manufacturing. A demo part specially programmed for Intec will be milled live on a five-axis quaser machining center.
Driven by the great success of the iMachining technology and the extensive support for complex multi-axis turning/milling machines and sliding headstock automatic lathes, the developers have worked on the user interface, usability and many detailed improvements. The aim: to program even complex machining operations and workpieces within SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor even faster and more conveniently. As in Solidworks, a task window area now provides a better overview and CAM productivity. Standard machining operations can now be simply dragged and dropped from template groups onto the CAD model. This means, for example, that all M6 threads on the workpiece can be completely programmed with a single mouse movement.
The new retraction optimization during drilling uses the current raw material to calculate the minimum required Z retraction plane to the next position. The new Solidcam version thus significantly reduces the Z traverse paths and consequently the machining time. As with 2.5D pocket and profile jobs, existing clamping devices are safely bypassed to avoid collisions.
The new multi-tool feature in the iMachining 2D and 3D modules enables three tools in a single machining operation. Whereas three separate jobs were previously required for roughing, rough finishing and finishing with different tool diameters, the highly efficient iMachining jobs can now be created even faster in Solidcam. The company promises time savings in the calculation of 3D machining operations with Turbo-3D-HSM: The calculation engine of the new 3D high-speed machining module with genuine 64-bit architecture is designed to use all available CPU cores of the PC and ensures ten to 20 times faster calculation times when calculating tool paths and recalculating modified jobs. According to the manufacturer, Solidcam Turbo-HSM therefore has the fastest 3D toolpath calculation on the market. pb
