Bühler Motor strengthens management team

Mark Furtwängler took over the position of Managing Director of Bühler Motor GmbH and Co-CEO of the Bühler Motor Group on January 1, 2019. He will be supported by Peter Muhr, who will continue to act as Managing Director of Bühler Motor GmbH and Co-CEO of the Bühler Motor Group.

In addition to Automotive Program Management, Mark Furtwängler's areas of responsibility also include the Industrial, Aviation and Healthcare divisions, Central Research and Development, Human Resources and the North American market.

Peter Muhr has been the sole Managing Director of the company since 2008. In future, he will be responsible for Purchasing and Supply Chain Management, Operations, Quality Management, Controlling and Finance, IT and MIS Systems as well as the Asian business.

The new dual leadership is a response to the successful development of recent years. The Bühler Motor Group's total turnover has almost tripled in just a few years. Sales in the Asian region even increased tenfold. The share of direct business with the final product manufacturers in the automotive sector grew from ten percent to almost 50 percent within a short period of time. At the same time, the number of employees increased by over 30 percent to 1,800 worldwide.

"The new size, the increase in the number of new employees and the increased internationality bring with them new requirements. Added to this is the greater responsibility that we take on as a 1st-tier supplier, i.e. as a partner that supplies the end product manufacturers directly. All of this requires Bühler Motor to position itself competitively in the face of this increased complexity," says Mark Furtwängler.

Furtwängler also sees the assumption of extended responsibility as part of the owner family's commitment to the company. He is following the example of Cornel and Christof Furtwängler, who, as representatives of the fourth generation of the owner family on the Advisory Board, will continue to ensure the continuity and reliability of the company.

Mark Furtwängler has been with the company since 2014. Most recently, he spent almost three years as President and General Manager of the North American subsidiary Buehler Motor Inc., where he was responsible for all activities on the North American market. Before joining Buehler Motor, he held various positions of responsibility at BMW for many years.

Since the beginning of the year, Karl Wagner has assumed overall responsibility for the locations in North America as President and General Manager. He moved from BorgWarner to Buehler Motor Inc. about a year ago and has since been Head of North American Program Management including Sales and Marketing.
