Safety modules
Play it safe
With the SD6, Stöber has a flexible stand-alone drive controller in its range. The SE6 safety module is a new addition. Among other things, this provides the drive controller with extensive stop and monitoring functions.
With the sixth generation, Stöber offers stand-alone and modular drive controllers for multi-axis applications. The flexible SD6 is part of this family. The single-axis controller with a rated output current of up to 85 amps is primarily used in drive-based applications with decentralized motion control. SD6 controls linear and rotary synchronous servomotors as well as asynchronous motors. Thanks to its modular interface concept and accessories, it can be precisely configured to solve very specific drive tasks. Communication modules for Canopen, Ethercat or Profinet are available for connection to a higher-level control system. A new addition to the product portfolio is the SE6 safety module, with which the SD6 drive controller can be optionally equipped. The short worst-case reaction time of less than ten milliseconds enables a quick shutdown and thus allows the designer to minimize safety distances.
Stop and monitoring functions
One of the product highlights is the safe brake management, which consists of safe brake control (SBC) and safe brake test with test cycle monitoring (SBT). This means that the drive controller meets the requirements of the DGUV. In addition to the stop functions Safe Torque Off (STO), Safe Stop 1 (SS1) and Safe Stop 2 (SS2), SE6 also enables functions for safe motion monitoring. The Safely-Limited Speed (SLS) and Safe Speed Range (SSR) functions ensure that the drive does not exceed the configured speed limit values. Safe Direction (SDI) monitors the projected direction of movement, Safely-Limited Increment (SLI) reliably limits the increment. Safe Operating Stop (SOS) monitors the active standstill. Practical suitability was the main focus of the joint development with Pilz.
No special motors, encoders, cables, standstill or speed monitors are required to operate SE6. The user can continue to use existing drive configurations or change to the components suitable for the application, which is generally associated with a reduction in system costs. In order to further increase the productivity and availability of the machine, the monitoring mechanisms of the safety functions have been extended beyond the basic normative requirements. Position-based limit value monitoring or the predictive suppression of interference signals allow the target limit values to be approached with a minimum interference margin. as
