Polymer threaded nut

Andreas Mühlbauer,

Replace ball screws cost-effectively

Igus has developed the JGRM series threaded nut as an alternative to ball screw nuts for use in spindles and for absorbing high loads. The design distributes the radial and axial loads so that the nut can absorb higher forces.

The new design is based on the connection dimensions and pitches of ball threads and is therefore easy to replace. It can be screwed on or on or mounted in a hole. The thread centering shoulder helps with installation. Igus manufactures the nut using injection molding, making it very light and cost-effective.

Thanks to the use of high-performance polymers, the nut has very low coefficients of friction. The rounded thread flanks and the absence of balls make the thread run smoothly. It requires no external lubrication. The threaded nut is also available as a heavy-duty version for higher axial loads.
