The result: after just a few weeks, Baumüller was able to reduce throughput times for invoice verification and optimize customer service. Further expansion has already begun.

Digitization of company-wide business processes

With 2,000 employees at 40 locations and six production sites worldwide, Baumüller, headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, ensures efficiency and cost-effectiveness even in complex applications - be it through highly dynamic and precise servo technology in mechanical engineering or energy-efficient mobility solutions of the future. In order to increase its own efficiency and profitability, the Group decided to introduce a low-code platform for the digitalization of company-wide business processes in 2021. With advice from CRM and process digitization specialist VSB, the decision was made in favour of Webcon BPS.

Improvements in invoice processing and customer service

Baumüller has been using Webcon BPS for incoming invoice processing since April 2022. Data from the ERP system is available to users in the Webcon forms in real time. An interface to the ERP Microsoft Business Central used in the service and project units was also configured. With this basic setup and intercompany communication, the processes went live in four companies in the group, spread across five plants. Today, the 200 employees involved can process invoices completely paperless; the processing time for invoice verification was reduced after just a few weeks.

Customer inquiries about existing orders are also processed via Webcon BPS: "In the area of managing customer orders and sales orders in the ERP, we have created a central inquiry tool with Webcon BPS, which we can now use to effectively manage deadlines, quantities and cancellations within the company," says Peter von Minnigerode, Chief Information Officer at Baumüller. "The aim was to eliminate the flood of emails and multiple processing in the processes and to simplify, structure and optimize the processes. Thanks to Webcon, we have succeeded in doing this".

Success through process digitization

"I am very proud that the Baumüller Group has opted for the Webcon BPS low-code platform in order to in collaboration with our premium partner VSB to digitize their business processes. This is another example of a successful medium-sized company from the manufacturing industry that is successfully developing business applications on our platform. Having already seen the first successes of process digitization - for example, a significant reduction in processing times or improved customer service - I am confident that the development of further applications will bring numerous new improvements. I am confident that the development of further applications will bring numerous new improvements, thanks to which the Baumüller Group will effectively increase the efficiency and transparency of its operational processes," concludes Philipp Erdkönig, Partner Channel Manager at Webcon.
