Smart Energy Monitoring

Measure energy consumption, avoid wear and tear

Analyze the energy consumption per cycle directly in the drive - without external sensors. Baumüller demonstrates this with Smart Energy Monitoring.

In times of rising energy costs, solutions are needed to determine energy requirements and then reduce them in a targeted manner. If this energy measurement can be used in addition to wear detection, machine manufacturers and operators benefit twice over. Baumüller is presenting such a solution with its Smart Energy Monitoring software function. This allows the energy consumption of individual production orders to be recorded transparently and optimized in a second step on the basis of a reference value.

The reference measurement also serves as an initial value to detect energy deterioration in the production process. Warning and error thresholds can be set on the basis of these values. The software is installed directly on the servo controller and can be easily retrofitted. The energy consumption is recorded directly via the intelligent drive. The energy is measured independently and in real time in the b-maXX servo inverters used. In the higher-level PLC function in the inverter, a software module analyzes the transmitted measured values and then calculates, among other things, the actual energy consumption per axis and across all axes.
