New automation concept
Together with the TH Köln and Codesys, manufacturer SEW-Eurodrive has developed a new automation concept for the simple programming of processes with human-robot cooperation and will be presenting it at the SPS.
The client was a cobot manufacturer. At the stand, visitors can find out how an industrial PC with an Intel Quad Core processor is used as a PLC with a fully integrated safety controller. The programming and configuration of the non-safe machine controller with EtherCAT as the system bus is carried out using the integrated Codesys development environment.
A tripod with three servo axes is shown as a technology demonstrator. Safe 2-wire technology is used in the position encoder. This significantly reduces the cable diameter and the costs of the motor-single cable technology even further. The demonstrator thus offers the prospect of automation solutions that are currently not possible with traditional approaches.
